James Harpold James has been licensed to practice in Virginia since 2007 and is both a member of the Virginia Bar and admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Since becoming an associate of Doumar Martin in 2008 James has handled an array of matters including contract disputes and business torts, felony and misdemeanor criminal matters, juvenile delinquency cases, divorce, support and custody matters including several international custody disputes, traffic cases, guardian and conservator appointments as well as administrative law matters before the Virginia Worker's Compensation Commission and the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. James has trial experience in both Virginia's Circuit and General District Courts, regularly argues motions in Northern Virginia's Circuit Courts and has made numerous appearances in Prince William County, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Alexandria state courts. Prior to becoming an associate of the firm, James worked as a law clerk for the Oregon Department of Justice, Civil Division, Family Section, where he assisted the assistant attorneys general terminate parental rights. James cares deeply about the work he accomplished for the Oregon Department of Justice and for the children and families he helped while there. Upon returning to Virginia James has sat for certification courses as both a guardian ad litem for children and incapacitated adults. Once certified, James intends to continue representing those that cannot speak for themselves. |
